Fall is coming soon!

One of our favorite times of the year is coming soon! Fall in Texas is such a gorgeous time of the year for especially in Port Aransas. The weather gets cooler and the crowds really start to thin out which gives our guests some peaceful vacation time. There’s plenty to do in Port Aransas during this cooler season also since you won’t be trying to beat the heat inside your condo all day.

The Pirate Ship and Sunset Dolphin cruises are a relaxing and perfect evening for kids and adults while you float away on the Corpus Christi bay. Chartered fishing trips aren’t as crowded and of course not as hot either! This is a great time of year for fishing and duck season will be coming up soon as well. Relaxing in the sand while the waves crash is another perfect fall example of how to enjoy Port A during this time of the year.

Since it is later in the season, our rates at the Sandpiper drop to our Fall rates which will give you a little relief on your wallet aside from the relief of the summer heat. Most of our condos are available during the fall for weeks at a time, allowing you and your guest to enjoy a fantastic Fall/Late Summer get-away without all the crowds from the high-season. Check out our rates for the fall by calling our front desk staff! They will assist you in selecting the condo you will most enjoy and offer any other information that might be helpful to know for you. We hope to see you soon!

Spring Break in Port Aransas-The Family Way

Family Style Spring Break Port Arnasas

Sandpiper

Sandpiper guests enjoying the beach.

Spring Break down on this coast is widely known as a fun time for college kids, teenagers and families. The problem when trying to find a place suitable for your family is fear of being around too many youngsters while trying to enjoy more of a sober and safe experience. Goods news though, this can be done!

As a family traveling down to Port Aransas during Spring Break, it’s important to know the best “family friendly” areas.  The open beach is a target for teens, so avoiding places directly in Port Aransas is a must if you’re seeking a more quiet vacation.

You will find many resorts and hotels along the highway (HWY 361) in between North Padre Island and Port Aransas that offer beachfront views and a more exclusive setting of the family friendly atmosphere you may be seeking.  These resorts are 5-10 minutes away from the city of Port Aransas as well as North Padre Island, making for short travel time to and from restaurants, gift shops and other entertainment on the islands. These places are great for families with young children as well as young teenagers.

Sandpiper

Sandpiper

If you do choose to stay in Port Aransas with your family, look for properties that have an age policy. Most properties require the guests to be 25 years of age to rent, which seems to keep the partying youngsters out of the property, however the beachfront is not quite as exclusive as you may desire.

The Sandpiper for example is 50 yards from the beach and busy only by its’ guests. Even though the Sandpiper is a large resort, our guest population does not hold a flame to what you may experience closer into town. Besides the Sandpiper, there are several locations on HWY 361 that offer this family friendly environment such as the Seagull, Mayan Princess, Port Royal or the Grand Caribbean.

Spring Break in Port Aransas can be such an enjoyable experience in the right location. The weather is pretty-even if it’s rainy-and the beach will be relaxing; giving you and your family the break and bonding time you came down here for.

There is nothing wrong with staying in Port Aransas but if you are truly looking for a family Spring Break trip, further out of town is your best option.

Tips for Vacationing in the Winter in Port Aransas.

Port Aransas is known for it’s beautiful presence on a crisp and clear day in the winter. There’s nothing quite like a gorgeous sunset over the Gulf of Mexico; and the pictures that we post hardly do the natural beauty any justice! Yes, it’s not bikini and shorts kind of weather, but it’s much more enjoyable for those who seek quietness and quality time with the ones they  are traveling with. Although it’s chilly here, the winter sunsets are something everyone should enjoy at least once a year. The vibrancy of the colors, the crispness of the air, the beach and waves crashing…it really makes you appreciate what you have and how much of it that you do have.

Since most people don’t travel during the winter season down to the coast, you might not know of all the things that you can go and experience without the crowds of the summer and blazing south Texas heat. Surprisingly, this coast has so much to offer for our winter guests that you wouldn’t not have a good time!  From Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, North Padre Island, Aransas Pass and the Rockport/Fulton area as well as Ingleside, there are tons of things to do, see and attend. And to be co centrally located to all of these places at the Sandpiper, you can’t go wrong. Port Aransas and North Padre Island have tons of dining, shopping, beaching, birding, 2 National Parks and even designated birding centers. If you want to escape the house for a few days now is the time!

Below we have listed 3 tips that we think are important to consider if you are traveling down here during the winter and are seeking to enjoy more than just our heated pool and jacuzzi!Sandpiper Sunset

1. Always check the weather! Call us and we can tell you our local forecast! (361) 749-6251. Even though rainy days are still fabulous here at the Sandpiper we, of course would want you to enjoy our sunshine too! However in the event that you are down here during some not so pleasant weather, our property has plenty of things to entertain!

  • We have a medium sized library in our beautiful lobby with Farmers Brothers coffee brewed at our coffee bar.
  • The lobby has multi-levels so you can still experience privacy that might be desired. Each level is equipped with comfortable seating arrangements.
  • Ping pong equipment at the front desk with 2 tables as well as 2 shuffleboards courts down in the lanai.
  • Broad movie/DVD selection at the front desk.
  • Several board games at the front desk also!

2. Make sure you bring binoculars and/or a camera! You won’t want to miss our nature’s moments and with so many places around to go and watch these lovely creatures. Please ask us where you can go if you are unfamiliar with the area and we will point you in the right directions. You can ask for English Allbritton, our General Manager,  or Magen Storrie, our Social Media Manager. Email us at social@sandpiperporta.com and Magen will respond to you. Birding South Texas

3. Check our website for current events! Our Island Matter’s Newsletter comes out the first of the month and lists all of the events going on for that month. It’s one thing to come and relax but you may find some very interesting ways to connect with our culture and experience the best of memories just doing something different for a change. From the local Port Aransas Community Theatre plays to guided nature walks with a Park representative and Christmas parades, we assure you that you will enjoy our little town just as much we do.

Thanks for checking in and reading our 3 tips to enjoying your winter Port Aransas beach vacation! Scroll through our pages and condos to see more of our property as well as check availability and pricing. If you want to call, dial (361) 749-6251. Happy Holidays!

There Are So Many Reasons To Be Thankful On Mustang Island

It is that time of year when we count our blessing and give thanks for all that we have and to look ahead to enjoying all that we are grateful for in the year to come on Port Aransas, on lovely Mustang Island.

Here on Mustang Island, the blessings are too many to count. Here are just a few we thought we’d share with you from those of us lucky enough to live along the Gulf Coast of Texas.

  • Port Aransas, commonly knows as Port A,  has miles of lovely Gulf Coast beach just perfect for wave frolicking, sea shell hunting or sun worshiping. The beach goer inside of you will be in beach heaven along our shore.
  • <img class="alignright wp-image-300 size-thumbnail" src="https://www.sandpiperportaransas.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/crane1-150×150.jpg" alt="crane1" width="150" height="150" srcset="https://www.sandpiperportaransas 20 mg prozac.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/crane1-150×150.jpg 150w, https://www.sandpiperportaransas.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/crane1-170×170.jpg 170w” sizes=”(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px” />We get to see lots and lots of beautiful birds. Mustang Island is perfectly situated in the heart of the spring and fall migrations. One of four sights on the Great Central Birding Trail, Mustang Island has one of the highest bird counts along the entire Gulf Coast.
  • Stress is an endangered species.  Port Aransas is a funky little beach community, brimming with fun and funky boutiques, art galleries, surf, swim and fishing gear as well as that perfect gift for everyone on your list. With it’s special, layed-back flavor, Port A is a great place to unwind and leave those big city problems far behind you.
  • Some of the freshest seafood and coastal cuisine is your to be savored at Port A’s numerous dining establishments. Whether you are looking for fine dining for that very special occasion or just looking for a delectable bite of the “catch of the day” at a casual seafood shack, Port A has just what your stomach desires.
  • Port A is frequently referred to as the “Fishing Capital of Texas.” The surrounding Gulf Waters are brimming with red snapper, mackerel, pompano and many other favorites, perfect for deep sea fishing or even just throwing your line in the bays.
  • Just in case we do get a hankering for some big city fun, Corpus Christi is just a short drive from Port Aransas.
  • Every Spring, we get to enjoy the weird, the whimsical and the just plain AMAZING as Port A plays host to the Texas Sand Sculpture Fest. Artists from around the world create unbelievable masterpieces out of our sand. There is nothing else quite like this festival anywhere.
  • Sandcastles and fabulous sunrises and sunsets are an every day occurrence for those of us lucky enough to call this wonderful area home.

Mostly we are thankful for all of our guests and our wonderful homeowners. We get to work with some of the most lovely people on the planet and nothing makes us happier than being able to help provide wonderful vacation memories to all of our visitors to Mustang Island.

Winter Is Near! Things to do in Port Aransas.

The seasons are changing quickly and we can’t believe it’s already November! It’s still not too cold down here, in fact it’s rather lovely. The cold fronts are moving down slowly, staying for about a day and then warming up once again. With all this weather change it’s not uncommon to see new birds around these parts. The colder it gets, the more that come!

Winter is an enjoyable time of year in Port Aransas, clearly not bikini weather but some days it’s warm enough and you’ll see dozens enjoying the sunshine in shorts and tanks, and maybe even their swimsuits.

Port Aransas BirdingPort Aransas BirdingBirding in South Texas is a common favorite among many Winter Texans and visitors during this time. There are several places to watch for these birds too. There is the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center of Port Aransas, Charlie’s Pasture on the bayside of HWY 361 and of course the open beach. Along our driveway we have a birding pond close to the entrance that will fill up with various species and the best part about this place is you can simply take a leisurely stroll from the property.

The Port Aransas Art Museum has several classes for you to take and brush up your skills or learn completely new things. These classes range from oil, pastels, watercolor, ceramic work and even jewelry making. You do have to register for these classes and some require you to have supplies as well.

<img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1092" src="https://www.sandpiperportaransas.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/IMG_7006-200×300.jpg" alt="Shelling in Port Aransas" width="200" height="300" srcset="https://www.sandpiperportaransas.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/IMG_7006-200×300.jpg 200w, https://www.sandpiperportaransas prozac medicine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/IMG_7006-683×1024.jpg 683w” sizes=”(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px” />Shelling and beach combing is another fun and relaxing thing to do. What’s better than walking the beach looking for interesting things!? It’s always fun to find something on the beach and then researching to find out what it is. Sometimes you will be surprised at just how far some of these little treasures travel all around the Gulf of Mexico.

IMG_6820

Of course there is fishing, which Port Aransas is known for. The locals say that the SheepHead bite consistently in the winter. After November, the floundering season starts back up again for those ‘giggers’ out there.

No matter how cold it gets we always have our Jacuzzi ready for you! There’s nothing like crisp, cold air and bubbling hot water on a winter day. Our pool is heated also in case you decided to go for a Polar Bear dip.home_2

One last thing that seems to beautify Port Aransas during the winter are the sunsets and sunrises. For some reason the Winter  brings amazing colors, probably because the air is so cold and molecules condense into forming beautiful and radiant sunsets/sunrises.

Even if you’re not staying for a whole month with us in the winter, chances are you will end up being a Winter Texan in the future yourself.

Fall in Port Aransas!

Fall in Port Aransas

Fall in Port Aransas

For many people, September is a time of back-to-routine but for some it’s a cool time of year to go exploring. Although on this island, it’s still pretty warm, many people are beginning to head this way for relaxing and not so crowded beach time. Personally, fall is our favorite time of year in Port Aransas. The weather is slowly cooling down, you can enjoy the beach on a much more personal note and (best of all) the wildlife will start to move around a little more with this cooler weather.
