Why October Is One of the Best Times to Visit Port Aransas
There’s a lot to love about Port Aransas in October. The heat of summer begins to ease up, the summer crowds have headed home, and the island settles into a slower pace that makes it easy to relax. Spend your days on the beach, grab a table at a favorite Port A restaurant without the peak-season rush, or take advantage of some of the great fall fishing. Add in all the things to do in Port Aransas in October for Beachtober, and you have plenty of reasons to plan a fall trip to the island.
A Few Beachtober Events to Mark on Your Calendars

Sweet Traditions Dessert Trail: All Month Long – For sweet treat lovers, this one’s for you! Participating restaurants include Castaways, Kody’s, Lone Star Taste, Seafood & Spaghetti Works, Stingray’s, Stout’s, and Trout Street Bar & Grill.
Taco and Margarita Trail: All Month Long – Another Beachtober event made with foodies in mind is the Taco and Margarita Trail. Several Port A restaurants will offer everyone’s favorite combo – tacos and margaritas. Visit one or visit all!
Beachtober Beats: Every Friday – Start the weekend off on the right foot and attend Beachtober Beats at the Sip Yard Port Aransas. Tickets for Beachtober Beats can be purchased online in advance. Day-of tickets are also available.
Flynn’s Beach Run (October 24, 2026): Flynn’s Beach Run is a run made for everyone. This race gives runners the options of a 5K, 10K, and a family-friendly fun run. You can also participate in the virtual run if you aren’t able to be here in Port Aransas. The race will start at Horace Caldwell Pier at 8 a.m. The 5K and 10K races are divided by gender and age groups, and awards will be given. Registration fees vary depending on the race.
Turn Beachtober Into a Long Weekend or Midweek Escape
You don’t need an entire week off to enjoy Beachtober. October is a great time to sneak away to Port Aransas for a long weekend—or better yet, add a few weekdays to your trip. Arrive on a Sunday or Monday, and you’ll get to experience an even quieter side of the island, from uncrowded beaches to a more relaxed atmosphere at local restaurants and shops. Midweek stays can also come with more rental availability and lower fall rates, leaving a little extra room in the vacation budget for tacos, margaritas, and all those stops along the Sweet Traditions Dessert Trail.
