Family Beach Walk

Take a guided beach walk tour with Texas Master Naturalist Julie Findley and learn fun beachcombing facts. Guided Wetland Walks

Join the Wetlands Education Center at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute every Tuesday and Thursday for guided wetland walks. This FREE guided walk takes you along wetland trails where you'll learn about the coastal wetland habitats and their inhabitants, including plant and animal life. Self-guided walks are also open to the public.

Birding on the Boardwalk

Birders Meet Up! Join our experts at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center every Wednesday to experience birding from the new boardwalk. This walk will be short along our boardwalk but offers great vistas for watching all our wonderful birds. Guides Ray Dillahunty and Leslie Hoesktra will lead the group in discovering all the Center has to offer. All experience levels are welcome, and binoculars are available for loan. The program is free. Meet at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center at 9:00 am.

Flynn’s Beach Squad

Join Flynn's Beach Squad for an evening of clean-up on Port Aransas! Flynn's Beach Squad is a weekly clean-up opportunity where volunteers can show their love for Port A and help keep the trash out of Port Aransas. Flynn's Beach Squad meets every Monday at 4:00 p.m. from June through August. From 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. is check-in and location assignment. 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. is the clean-up, and from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. is wrapping up and returning to the meeting spot at Horace Caldwell Pier. Reusable yellow trash bags and trash grabbers are provided.

Wings Over Port A

Parrot Heads of Port Aransas is a local group connected through the songs and spirit of Jimmy Buffet. Each year, they host a weekend of "phun" called Wings Over Port A, filled with music, dancing, fundraising, and more! Benefiting local charities ARK, Salty Paws, and VFW Care & Share.

Wings Over Port A Schedule

Thursday, September 25th at the Sip Yard: From 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, enjoy drinks and grab a bite to eat at the Sip Yard. You'll pick up registration packets and goodie bags. Friday, September 26th: Join Parrots in Paradise at 6:00 pm for a beach dinner, music, and bonfire. Location will be announced closer to the event, but bringing your own chairs and beverages is recommended. There will be a kite contest as well. Saturday, September 27th: From 11:30 am - 3:00 pm, take part in the Port A Poker Run, which will be held at favorite watering holes in Port Aransas. You must pre-register for the Port A Poker Run. From 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm, join Wings Over Port A for the "GALA" at the Port Aransas Civic Center. Doors open at 6:00 pm and there will be dinner, live music, and dancing. There will be also be a Silent Auction, Raffle, 50/501, Cork Pull, and tickets to win the Booze Wagon! Learn More
