This quaint white chapel sits atop one of the highest points in Port Aransas. Built in 1937 by artist, astronomer, author, and Poet Aline Carter, the chapel was a space where children gathered after Sunday school and were served ice cream and cake by Carter.
As you walk into the chapel, you’ll notice the intricately painted murals on the ceiling. In 1972, artist John Patrick Cobb painted the biblical murals, with the New Testament on the north wall and the Old Testament on the south wall.
If you’d like to visit the chapel on the dunes, free guided tours are available every first and third Saturday starting at 9:15am.
