The Texas Sandfest at Port Aransas beach is an event for the whole family and is not to be missed -- plus, it's free!
Drawing over 100,000 spectators, the Sandfest is the largest beach festival in Texas. 18 Master Sculptors from around the world, as well and children and amateurs, test their skills at Sandfest, creating a utopia of artistic and imaginative sand sculptures.
In addition to sand sculptures, Sandfest offers games, photo contests, arts and crafts, raffles, delicious eats, live music, plus an abundance of activity tents.
The Youth Tent offers activities for kids of all ages, such as arts and crafts. The Pet Oasis, Lesson Mountain (offering lessons on sand sculpture) and the Sand Maze are must sees.
Did you say free?
Sandfest is free for all guests. A Beach parking permit (free) is required to park at Sandfest -- though be warned, parking is limited. Alternatives to beach parking is the trolley system, bringing guests from their hotels, and other locations, to Port Aransas.
If you're interested in competing at the Texas Sand Sculpture Festival, contact texassandfest@aol.com.
A registration fee is charged for the youth, amateur, and pro-am contests. Registration fees range from $5 for single children to $40 for large groups.
